What Christmas Teaches Me as a Lash Artist

Christmas Used to Feel…

Christmas used to feel glamorous—and honestly, a little intimidating. Growing up, the season meant beautiful outfits, constant events, gift-giving, and the pressure to always show up put-together. As the years went by, it only felt louder. Responsibilities piled up, expectations grew, and I found myself caught in the performance of it all.

Following Jesus Changed Everything

But now, following Jesus has changed how Christmas feels to me entirely.

Christmas is no longer just a season I pass through—it’s a reminder of why I’m here at all. It marks the moment our Savior entered the world. God chose humility over grandeur. Presence over performance. And that truth has gently reshaped not only my faith, but how I see my work as a lash artist.

“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.”
Luke 2:11 (KJV)

I accepted Jesus into my life in 2024, and this Christmas feels different. Christmas reminds me that the rescue didn’t begin at the cross—it began in a manger. How special is that? That God would humble Himself to come close to us, to know us, and to walk with us.

Presence Over Performance

Reflecting on Jesus’ example of presence over performance, everything has changed—including how I run my business. Jesus saved me from viewing my work as my source; it’s no longer just a way to prove myself or fill my schedule. He’s turned it into an outlet, a space where I can be intentional, purposeful, and connected.

Being immersed in the beauty industry can be distracting. It’s easy to get lost in vanity, numbers, comparisons, and outward measures of success. There is always something more to chase—more bookings, more growth, more visibility. But Christmas interrupts that mindset for me. It grounds me.

Running My Business Differently

Back then, when I tried to attract clients, it often felt like I was chasing numbers, trying to fill my calendar. Now, I ask myself: How can I positively impact someone’s life? How can I use the gifts, wisdom, and knowledge that Jesus gave me to serve others well? Operating a business as if the world is your stage isn’t sustainable—I’ve learned that the hard way in my early 20s.

Now, using the gifts, wisdom, and knowledge that Jesus came down to make sure I have is my reason to keep going. Even when business is slow, even when I'm burnt out from everything else going on, Jesus will always be the reason—He will always be my reason. He’s my purpose and my peace, and everything I do now flows from that.

Slowing Down and Finding Peace

When I remember that Christmas celebrates a God who chose humility, it reorders my priorities. I begin to ask myself: where in my life can I choose humility? How can I practice presence over performance? It reminds me that true beauty was never meant to be loud or self-centered. It was meant to be rooted in love, care, and intention.

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.”
John 1:14 (KJV)

I finally found the peace that slows down my pace.

So what does Christmas mean to me as a lash artist?

It means slowing down.
It means being still.
It means creating without rushing, serving without striving, and working without needing to prove my worth.

I have a business with purpose.
Clients who trust me.
A community of friends and family around me.

None of this was built by my strength alone. It has been sustained by grace.

“Be still, and know that I am God.”
Psalm 46:10 (KJV)

Christmas reminds me that my work is not separate from my faith. My business is not just about beauty—it’s a space where I get to serve people with care, excellence, and peace. It’s a place where ministry doesn’t look loud, but faithful. Not rushed, but rooted.

Everything I have comes from Him.
Everything I do is because of Him.

And Christmas brings me back to that truth with clarity and joy.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—
— Ephesians 2:8 (NIV)

Celebrating the Greatest Gift

As I celebrate Christmas this year, I’m celebrating more than a holiday. I’m celebrating Jesus—the greatest gift of all. The One who slows me down, grounds my work, and gives my business meaning beyond what the world offers.

This Christmas, I encourage you to slow down, too. Even if you aren’t a believer, the world moves fast and can be overwhelmingly loud. You deserve rest, reflection, and space to breathe. Let this season be less about performing or keeping up, and more about presence, purpose, and gratitude.
